WinCC DataMonitor

WinCC DataMonitor Part 1

Among the software that complements the WinCC Scada, there is DataMonitor, which includes a series of components for Data visualization, such as Alarms, UserArchives, TagLogging and together with Microsoft Office, the following can be available:
* "WinCCViewerRT"
* "Excel Workbook"
* "Reports"
* "Webcenter"
* "Trends & Alarms"

If we are going to work with DataMonitor, before installation we will prepare the equipment; for this practice, I have chosen a Server 2008 R2 Operating System, and it can be any of those shown:

For the DataMonitor Client, we have the following options:

Once these details are covered, we will proceed to install the components to prepare our equipment. The first of these is Message Queuing

Secondly, once the IIE is installed with its default characteristics, we need to add the following, which are the selected check boxes, according to their scope: Application Development, Management Tools, Security

Next, after preparing the equipment, I have installed Microsoft Office 2007; it is possible to use version 2010 initially.

Once this entire process is completed, I have installed WinCC, which when selecting the DataMonitor Server, automatically selects the DataMonitor Client and the WebNavigator Server; the latter will be used for publishing screens, just like when we configure the WebNavigator.

When we have completed the installation with the DataMonitor Server, a series of User Groups have been created on the equipment; for proper functioning, permissions must be granted to the user, in my case, the Administrator.

I have added the Administrator to the following Groups:
SIMATIC Reports Administrators
SIMATIC Reports Publishers
SIMATIC Reports Users

In Internet Explorer, I have added localhost to the trusted sites within the Intranet, and the ports are enabled in the firewall; these steps are the same as those performed in the WebNavigator

I will advance an image where I have accessed WinCC DataMonitor with the Administrator User, and I was able to log in correctly, but the logged-in user is not the Administrator; it is a user created by default during installation. It should also be mentioned that I do not have permissions to manage the site as can be observed.

To resolve this incident, it is necessary to add the Administrator User to the following Groups: SIMATIC HMI and SIMATIC HMI VIEWER

If we try the connection again after these changes, the restriction no longer appears, and our Administrator user is shown as logged in.

With these steps completed so far, we can now manage our site

To avoid prolonging this practice too much, I will divide it into several parts, this being the first and here the second
