Factory Talk Historian - License

Factory Talk Historian - License

Some basic concepts for licensing Factory Talk Historian.

Once the link for our FTHistorian is created, if we access the properties with a right-click, the following window opens, where in the Licensing tab the licenses are displayed, and we need to assign them since by default it is set to 0.

And if we check in Point Sources, we see that we have a license for 1000 tags of which we have created 39 for the FTLD (Factory Talk Live Data) interface. It is important to have this clear to later understand the rest.

Now we are going to verify this information in our Historian management console (PI System Management Tools) Operation -> Licensing
Inside resources, we will search as we have seen Point Sources Limit. FTLD and observe that we have the license for 1000 with the 39 Points created.

If we now check the FTMS or FTSS interface, we can see that we do not have a license.

To understand the rest of the licenses, we need to have the following table clear, which is directly related to the tags.

Now I am going to create a Tag of the PIPing type, where the interface is reference J as shown in the table.

If we now check the licenses, we can see that of the 10 tags that can be created of this type, we have already consumed one.
