This computer is not in the client list of the server project

In the following practice, we will see a possible cause of the problem "This computer is not in the client list of the server project". This error will occur when we are working with a WinCC Multi-project, where we have a Server and X Clients.

The message that will appear when we try to open the project on the client is as follows:

We will consider that all the requirements necessary for this type of project are already met: We have already mentioned them in the following example, but we will recall the main ones.

-Add a new Client on the Server

-Generate the Data package (Server Data)

-User and Password policies are met, whether in Workgroup or Domain. The user has been configured with permissions 1000 and 1001. Activate and configure remote

-They are on the same Network, and we can ping between them using the IP address and their Name.

 

With the Simatic Shell tool, we check our devices, as shown in the image everything seems correct

If we ping from our Client to our Server using their IP address and Name, to resolve the DNS Server, we verify that everything is correct, yet we still get the displayed error.

We will see this time where the error was:

By default on the Server, it is most common to have two Network cards, one to communicate with the PLCs and another for the WinCC Network, and each is on a different subnet.

We return to the Simatic Shell, right-click and Settings

Here we check the Network cards we have and we must have selected the one corresponding to the Network of the PCs where WinCC is installed, in this case, this was the error. The PLC network card was selected.

Although in the image they are in the same IP range, the subnet mask for each device was different.
