Objective
FSGateway replaces the old OPCLink and allows InTouch to publish data coming from OPC servers and other DAServers/IOServers.
This example uses RSLinx OPC Server, previously configured, to access the controller simulated with RSLogix Emulate 5000.
Create the OPC Object
Open SMC and navigate through DAServer > Default Group > Local > ArchestrA.FSGateway.1. Right-click and add a new OPC object.
Configure the OPC Server
Assign a name and configure the OPC server to use. In this case RSLinx is used to reuse the RSLinx OPC Server and RSLogix Emulate 5000 practices.
If the OPC server is on the same machine, Localhost can remain. If it is on another machine, DCOM must be prepared or a tunneling solution must be used.
Add the OPC Group
The next step is to add an OPCGroup object. The OPC object name concatenated with the group name will be the reference InTouch uses to access FSGateway.
Select OPC Items
Click Browse OPC, navigate to the required items, select them and add them with the green plus icon. Then accept to finish.
Once selected, they appear in Device Items. For clarity in InTouch, only the short item name is left in the Name column.
Activate the Server
Finally, activate the server. FSGateway is now ready for InTouch to use the configured items.
